After some discussions amongst the team, we felt that our application forms needed a bit of updating and sprucing up. We also felt that having the rules/guidelines and application forms separate was a little confusing for some applicants, and has meant that some new applications haven’t fully read or understood our rules of qualification. Therefore these are now combined into a single document, which you can find by following the link below.
Please take a moment to have a read through the new terms of qualification, as there have been some updates to the previous rules document. Most notably, we have reduced the required age for judging to 17. This is to allow for the fact that our hobby is getting younger, and we have some very knowledgeable 17-year-olds in this hobby who we feel are suitable to judge on their own. We have also added a box asking for your consent to having your contact details displayed on our website in order to allow prospective showholders without access to Facebook to enter live shows. Please contact us with any issues regarding this. Any applications from this point sent in using the old forms will be returned, and you will be asked to complete this new application. The new application form and requirements can be found here: https://bmecs.weebly.com/hosting-a-bmecs-qualifier-show.html In addition to this update, we would also like to clarify a few qualifier points that have been mentioned in discussion recently:
If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please get in touch with us by emailing the team at britishmodelequinechampionship@gmail.com Thank you!

For anyone who would like it, here is download-able PDF of the class list for this weekend's show! I tried to copy and paste it into the blog so that you could see it here too, but it decided to have a tis-woz and changed all the class numbers, which isn't helpful if you're actually showing, so this will have to do! ![]()
See you all tomorrow!
Dani BMECS Team As well as Kim looking for Sponsorship and Raffle donations, our Judge and Steward Coordinator Dani Hunt is after hobbyists who are willing to help us out on the day of the show - because as much as we might like to, we can't steward and judge a show as big as BMECS all by ourselves!! Here is her post, taken from the BMECS Facebook page:
JUDGES AND STEWARDS If you would like to be considered to judge or steward at this year's BMECS, please send an email to britishmodelequinechampionship@gmail.com telling us which divisions you would be most comfortable and available to judge. If you would like to steward, please let us know which day/times you would be comfortable stewarding. Please title your email JUDGES AND STEWARDS. Preferably, steward nominees will have previous experience stewarding a show. Judge nominees must be over 18 and be an experienced judge. For clarification on what this means, please refer to the BMECS guidelines, or pop one of us a message. The divisions requiring judges are: Original Finish Custom Finish Artist Resin Artist China Commercial China and Resin CTF Craft CTF Plastic Animal Artistry Performance Workmanship Best of British Awards We will inform you if you have been selected to judge or steward and confirm the relevant classes with you after the class list has been finalised. Please note that judges will not be announced publicly before the show application deadline. This has not been done in previous years, nor is it possible to do without a final class list. Kim Murray, our Raffle and Prize Coordinator, has been busy planning this year's prizes, rosettes and the much anticipated BMECS Raffle. But, we can't make BMECS great without you. Help us to make BMECS 2018 the most magical BMECS yet! As per previous years, we are currently searching for hobbyists who wants to help out by sponsoring the show, and we are also on the hunt for raffle donations. All the info you need to get involved and become a part of this year's event can be found below. Would you like to show your support and help make the British Model Equine Championship Show special? We would love your help! So far, we have been working on sponsorships privately, but we are now ready to bring them to a public platform. On behalf of the BMECS team, I would officially like to request sponsors for the 2018 British Model Equine Championship Show! Based on requests for more exclusive and abundant prizes, we are doing something new and different, making sponsorship even more important! This year we will be having exclusive trophies for both champions and top 10 winners!! Rosette sponsors will have their name printed in foil of their sponsored rosettes as a token of appreciation. Sponsors of trophies will have their names printed on the certificates of authenticity for the awards as a token of appreciation. If you would like to be a sponsor, please contact me for more details. Your contribution would greatly help in making this possible. Original Finish - Fully Sponsored Custom Finish - Fully Sponsored Artist Resin - Sponsorship needed. £20 for Rosettes, £25 for Trophies, or £40 for Both. Artist China - Sponsorship needed. £20 for Rosettes, £25 for Trophies, or £40 for Both. Commercial China and Resin - Fully Sponsored CTF Craft – Rosettes Sponsored. £25 Sponsorship needed for Trophies. CTF Plastic - Rosettes Sponsored. £25 Sponsorship needed for Trophies. Animal Artistry - Fully Sponsored Performance – Fully Sponsored Workmanship - Rosettes Sponsored. £25 Sponsorship needed for Trophies. Best of British Awards - Fully Sponsored Unsung Heroes – Sponsors Needed. £5 (See Below). This year we are opening up a new smaller sponsorship. We are calling this the sponsorship of the “Unsung Heroes.” We decided to open this sponsorship up as we had people interested helping to sponsor but weren’t interested in sponsoring a full division. The money generated from the Unsung Heroes will go towards the cost of the certificates, section winner rosettes, and 1-6 placing cards for each class. Unsung Heroes won’t be fully unsung, as they will receive a thank you and recognition in the Show Booklet (unless requested to remain anonymous). Thank you very much, Kim Murray (BMECS 2018 Raffle & Prize Coordinator) On behalf of the British Model Equine Championship Show team, I would officially like to request raffle donations for the BMECS 2018 raffle! As you may have seen, this year's show will have a theme! As you may have seen, the theme is: Fantasy! We would happily accept any raffle donations, however, thematically appropriate donations would help make the raffle all the more magical and enjoyable! Donors may place an advertisement in the show booklet and a sales table in the sales area if desired. The show is on September 29th - 30th, so there is plenty of time to make, source, or dig out a donation. If you would like to make a donation, please contact me for more details!
Thanks so much, Kim Murray (BMECS 2018 Raffle & Prize Coordinator) INTRODUCING... THE BMECS BEST OF BRITISH AWARDS 2018!
Are you a maker? Do you sculpt, paint, carve, sand, snip, fasten, or glue model horsey things? Well, here is your chance to shine! Similar to previous years, BMECs 2018 will be offering five classes for any work made by British Model Horse Artists between October 2017 and September 2018. ONE entry per artist per class. Artists must show their own work, or they may proxy with permission (please message us). No BMECs card needed for entries. Just bring your best to go head to head with the Best Of British! Special rosettes and prizes will be awarded. 1. UK Finishwork · Models of any material, including customs - however only paint work and/or custom glazing will be judged. Factory or AA finishwork excluded from this class. 2. UK Custom Work · A model in any material that has been altered in any way, incl. rehairing. Complete customisation to be judged. 3. UK Sculpture · Must be shown blank (primed is okay). 4. UK Props & Dolls · No horses please. Entry must consist of either one doll OR one prop. 5. UK Tack · No dolls or props, can have horse or display stand to model if desired. Tack only will be judged. Both realistic and fantastical entries accepted, as are busts and medallions in classes 1-3. Plain stands and turntables permitted in all classes, but in order for the individual piece to shine on its own, please no scenery, backgrounds, or additional props (unless it is a prop being shown in the prop class). Photos of progress, potential set ups, and references always welcomed. We can't wait to see what you come up with! Good afternoon all! The BMECS Team thought it was about time that the BMECS website had its very own blog-slash-news page - and here it is! It's long overdue, and we know there are at least a couple of hobbyists who prefer not to use social media, and thus don't get the benefits of all the updates we like to post in the BMECS Facebook group. So we'll be doing our best to post lots of the updates from there on this new Blog, so that hobbyists outside of Facebook are able to keep up with them. For those of you who aren't Facebookers and aren't familiar with the current BMECS Team, I'm Dani, and one of my primary jobs is looking after the website and thus also this new blog. I'm one of two longer-standing team members - Amanda Greaves is the other. The remaining team - Dani Hunt, Kim Murray and Amber Hitchman are all new this year. You can put faces to names and find out what we all do here. We are so excited to have a new team for this years show. Everyone is so enthusiastic and dedicated, and they've brought some fabulous ideas to the table which we are really looking forward to unveiling. We want BMECS 2018 to be bigger and better than ever, and we are working hard to make that happen. Speaking of which, this seems like a good time to say that entries for BMECS 2018 are now OPEN! Here is a shot of Amanda's post about it from the Facebook group, which includes all the info you need if you want to enter this year's show: As that there's a screenshot, the highlighted blue link to the webpage to download the entry forms from won't actually do anything, so I'm including a link to it here:
https://bmecs.weebly.com/bmecs-2018-event-info--entry-forms.html Alternatively, you can click on the screenshot itself and that will take you to the same place. One of our new exciting things for this year's show is that BMECS now has a theme! This year's theme will be fantasy. This means themed rosettes, themed prizes, themed certificates and more. Every year will be different, just to add a little more excitement to the event! I think that's all for now. We hope that you are as excited about BMECS 2018 as we are, and we can't wait to see you there. Over and out! Dani The BMECS Team |
