The British Model Equine Championship Show

September 2023

(dates to be confirmed)

BMECS: The British Model Equine Championship Show

The British Model Equine Championship Show, or BMECS, is a championship-level live model horse show. It is open to all members of the Model Horse Hobby and is the highlight of the UK hobby's live showing calendar! In order to show at BMECS, model horses must have previously placed 1st or 2nd in their respective class at a BMECS Qualifier Show, wherein they will have received a BMECS 'ticket' permitting them entry to the Championships.

BMECS is organised by a team of several long-standing and experienced hobbyists - you can find out more about the members of the Organising Committee and who is responsible for what here. The show is run independently of any other hobby group or organisation, but we all try to work together and strive to make the hobby a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

So, what should you expect from BMECS?

BMECS strives to be an exciting and memorable event every year. Here are some of the things to look forward to at this year's show:

  • Sections for all divisions, spread across two days: Performance, Original Finish, Custom, Artist Resin, Artist China, Animal Artistry, Commercial China & Resin, and two Craft, Toy & Foundation divisions.
  • A broad range of classes within each division, to allow all models a chance to do their very best.
  • Fair and honest judging by pre-appointed experienced judges.
  • Special and unique awards for Champions and Top Ten winners of each division, as well as rosettes and certificates!
  • Certificates down to 6th place in every class.
  • A raffle on both days with some great prizes, including some very special pieces kindly donated by some of our hobby's finest artists, as well as lots of other fabulous items donated by very generous fellow hobbyists.
  • A SUPER raffle - the tickets for this one are more expensive than those for the normal raffle, but the prizes to be won are also that little bit more special.
  • Special Best of British (BOB) classes with prizes to celebrate our very own British artists, sculptors, prop makers and tack makers!
  • An area for trade stands, featuring some of your favourite model horse retailers and hobby-related businesses. (If you are a business or hobbyist interested in having a stall at BMECS, please contact us.)
  • Sales tables will be available at lunch time, for those who don't require a stall but still have some items to sell.
  • Snacks & drinks will be provided in the kitchen - but please bring a packed lunch with you as we cannot provide enough food for everyone's lunch! Also please note that special dietary requirements unfortunately cannot always be catered for.

If you find you have any queries, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our metaphorical door is always open and we are always happy to help.

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
