The information below is largely taken from our 'Guidelines For Show Holders' document, and features some recommendations for schedule structure at BMECS Qualifier Shows, as well as some guidelines for judges.
It is recommended that sections be divided by Make/Finish:
Original Finish (OF) To include all collectible models made in plastic by Breyer; Peter Stone, Copperfox and similar, but NOT toys. Please note that Breyer Mini Whinnies should be shown in CTF classes where available. (OF Commercial China & Resin models may be included in this section when they do not have their own individual section within a show schedule.)
Custom (CM) ALL models that have been customised, eg. Breyer, Stone AND Commercial China/Resin models that have been changed from their original form (incl. matte sprayed Beswicks). Do NOT include simple CTF customs in this section.
Artist Resin (AR) Models produced in limited quantities by the Hobby in resin. (To include Artist China, when they do not have their own section.)
Artist China (AC) Models produced in limited quantities by the Hobby as china editions (eg. a china edition of an original resin model). Includes custom glazed Hobby Editions. (Should be shown in Artist Resin where no Artist China section is available.)
Animal Artistry (AA) ALL resin, china or claybody customs produced by Animal Artistry/Alchemy, even if they are painted by another artist. Alchemy chinas NOT based on an AA sculpture should be shown in the Artist China section.
Commercial China & Resin (CCR) ALL models produced by companies such as Beswick, Border Fine Arts, Sandicast and similar, that are in their original form. Breyer porcelain & resin editions are also included in this section. (CCR models may be included in the OF section (as above) if a show does not have this section on the schedule.)
Craft, Toy & Foundation Plastic (CTF Plastic) ALL plastic factory produced 'toy' models (Papo, Schleich, CollectA, Breyer Mini Whinnies, etc.) should be shown in this section, even if slightly customised from their original format. However, drastic or major customs should go in the Custom section.
Craft, Toy & Foundation Craft (CTF Craft) ALL Rydal, Rubbernedz, Equorum and Julip models, and all other handmade “craft” models should be shown in this section. (At many shows, CTF Plastic and CTF Craft are merged into a single CTF division, and this is considered quite acceptable, but at BMECS the division is split in this manner to allow for fairer competition.)
Judging Criteria (as used at BMECS)
Correctness of anatomy, biomechanics, conformation
Breed standards, including colour, that represents current (or historic with documentation) standards
